Twisty doesn't display after creating subfolders until collapse/expand folders
or relaunch mail again
1)Login to an IMAP mail account
2)After create 1st level fodler & few levels subfolders
3)Actual Results: Twisty doesn't display for those subfolders that I just
created. After I collapse & expand or relaunch the mail again, the twisty will
display again.
Expected results: twisty should display right away after creating subfolders.

Should this nominate nsBranch? Since users will misunderstand that the twisty
disappear.....

I've seen a similar problem with news.
create a new news accounts, and subscribe to a group. the twisty doesn't appear
for the account until you restart.

There aren't any comments on this bug since the 21st of Sept. Can QA regess
against the Netscape commercial builds and determine if this is still a valid
bug? Please mark as nsbranch+ which will get this on the PDT radar if you think
this is critical and can give us an ETA for the fix. Else, mark is as nsbranch-.
Also, can someone comment in the bug how serious you think this is? PDT is only
accepting "stop ship" bugs at this point such as data loss, loss of major
functionality, regressions and bugs to the eMojo "stop ship" features.
I am sure this is still a valid bug - this bug was filed and commented on very
recently, however, we should find out if this is a regression from 6.1.
Karen - is this a regression from Netscape 6.1?

Yes. This is a regression from Netscape 6.1. Adding regression for the keywords.
Users obviously will see Netscape 6.2 is worse than Netscape 6.1 for such UI
problem...... :-(

after some debugging, I think this is going to be an outliner builder bug.
waterson, can you help me out?
Comment 7•23 years ago

Although this is a regression, I don't see that it's a stop-ship bug. I would
only consider a patch that is trivial in nature.

So am I correct in understanding that this happens when you:
1. Have an ``open'' parent folder that contains a subfolder.
2. You remove the subfolder.
3. You re-start.
4. You now attempt to add a subfolder to the original parent folder.
In which case, the new subfolder appears, but the twisty won't show up until you
restart.
Based on the test case I've been playing with, it looks like we need to do steps
(1) and (2) to get some state into the localstore (persisting the ``open''-ness
of the parent folder).
Comment 11•23 years ago

If (1) and (2) are required for this bug, I would suggest nsbrach-

The fix is pretty trivial: replace ``else if'' with ``if''. OTOH, it seems like
it will probably be pretty hard for a real user to get into this state, and even
if they do, it's really only a minor visual glitch that should fix itself the
next time the user opens the mail window. Therefore, I'm going to mark
nsbranch-. If I've misunderstood the severity of the bug, please feel free to
slap me.

works great!
do you consider this too risky for the branch? I'd like to have it on the
branch (I can land it for you), since it will fix several mailnews folderpane UI
bugs.
I'll go find those dups now.

Chris, if you believe the risk for this change is low then I would really like
to take it for the branch. I'll do all the dirty work at PDT I just need 2
things from you:
1) risk assessment from you (it looks pretty low risk to me)
2) can you check it into the trunk today so we can get testing on it before Monday
