Please redirect http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/central/
to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-started-firefox-overview-main-features
as part of the April 29, 2014 Australis push
Michael and Ibai - could you please:
1. add the not-so-new content person to this bug
2. confirm this page will be updated for Australis

Joni has been added.
From what I can see, the article is ready...just needs review.

Hi Gareth-
Could you please make a note in Google Analytics when this redirect is in place?
Thx,
Jen

Will do Jen. Did we want to re-direct any non-Fx traffic to /new or the new Fx desktop page? Approx 7% of traffic to this page is non-Fx.

Hi Jen,
Yes, we will update this article for Australis (the edits are already pending review). Michael and I just need go over the edits to make sure they match the First Run tour.

Yes please - when linking to sumo, leave out the locale string and sumo will send people to the right language.

Let's also only send the Firefox traffic to SUMO.
Let's redirect the 1% of traffic to this page from non-Fx browsers to /firefox/new.

Actually, 10% of traffic. Sorry - my math is bad late on Friday afternoons.

Cmore and Pascal - Verdi and Kadir looked at the in-product link, and apparently it points to /central for en-us and to the firefox features page for all other pages. Could you please check and confirm?
Does this mean we should try to change the in-product book mark instead of handling this as a web redirect?
Thx,
Jen

It points to central for all locales, the server redirected to /features for the top locales because when the new /central page (now obsolete in English) was designed, there were constraints making it not localizable, so features was a better alternative than the page we had before the tour.

no, this is already redirected for locales on the server, I am asking that if you redirect en-US/central to a sumo page with more up to date content, we do that for all locales. Which will allow:
- to have that content localized on Sumo (already the case for many locales)
- to decommission all the old central pages still on the php site for locales
- to be consistent with en-US behaviour
Cheers

Why 10%? Why not all fx traffic to sumo and everyone else to /firefox/new? That may be what you meant.
As pascal said, we will just redirect to the non-locale version and let SUMO redirect:

Chris, the 10% is the amount they represent.
"Let's redirect the traffic to this page from non-FX browsers to /firefox/new. They are 10% of the total traffic to /central".
That may be a better phrasing.
