A new error page for when Firefox detects no internet connection should be created. This page should clearly tell the user there is no internet connection and give the user steps on how to diagnose their connection. One of following methods to fix the problem should be presented (items ordered first have a precedence over later ones):
1. A system tool to diagnose the internet connection exists
2. A system tool to configure the internet connection exists
There should be five versions of this page depending on the users system's ability to diagnose connectivity issues:
- A diagnostics tool exists and can be launched with a button (E.g. OS X's Network Diagnostics page)
- A diagnostics tool exists but cannot be launched with a button; steps should be given how to access this tool.
- A network configuration tool exists and can be launched with a button.
- A network configuration tool exists but cannot be launched with a button; steps should be given how to access this tool.
- Neither tool exists and general instructions to check network settings should be displayed.
- No tool exists and instead.
Through investigation on each platform, the number of versions may change. For example perhaps all platforms have an automated tool that can be launched with a button and we do not need the manual instructions. Ultimately we want to give the user the option with the least amount of work (i.e. launching tools for them).
