Bug 961800 is disabling this test in tbpl and travis. The test itself is timeout for unknown reason, from my debugging it seems no 'appopen' event is caught by gaia_apps.js But the ftu app is launched correctly and the test passes manually. File this bug to investigate and enable it in the future.
bug 961800 needs to be backed out. We cannot have that test temporarily disabled for the purpose of forcing a feature landing. This is especially important right now given we're now moving to an automation-driven strategy in 2014 for daily tests, so losing automated coverage for even a short period of time is extremely costly.
