Build 2001091003 on w2k sp2 - viewing
snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/CuWUQ@mx.seed.net.tw results in a page that
uses 100% CPU and makes Mozilla unresponsive. When trying to "get off of" this
page by clicking Home or Back, there is a delay of several tens of seconds
before anything happens. The weird thing is that you can circumvent this delay
by hiting ctrl-alt-del to get the "Lock Computer"/"Logoff"/etc. menu and
clicking Cancel, and you're taken back to the Mozilla window, which now displays
the page you requested (using Home or Back as previously mentioned), and Mozilla
has stopped eating CPU.
I don't know if this is really i10n, but I found this problem while browsing
newsgroups - all other messages worked as expected, but this Thai page caused
the lockup problem. Viewing this message in MailNews shows Thai characters, but
viewing it as snews://secnews.netscape.com:563/CuWUQ@mx.seed.net.tw in the
browser shows gibberish. Regardless of whether in MailNews or the browser,
Mozilla starts consuming CPU.
Geez, I was way off the mark with this one, the problem is that the message at
the URL in question has a background image, apparently it doesn't have anything
to do with internationalization. Surely this is a dup of another bug, I'll look
for it...
