User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140314220517
Steps to reproduce:
Turning on Wifi on my FFOS-Devices, costs a lot of energy.
Actual results:
I keep forgetting to turn the Wifi-feature off and my phone's energy get's drained faster than neccessary.
Expected, but annoying. Especially if I'm away from home with no open WiFi in sight.
Expected results:
Could you implement an option to auto-disable the WiFi-Feature after X unsucessfull tries to connect to a WiFi-Lan? It would help to increase battery life greatly.
Perhaps with a little notification "WiFi turned off after X Minutes of disconnect, you're now using the data connection of your cell-provider" to keep costs in check?

This is very similar to bug 989715. I'm not dup'ing, though, because this is specifically about scanning without success, while the other bug may be more general. They definitely seem related, though.

It would be nice to have something like Wi-Fi matic in Firefox OS.
Wi-Fi matic is an open source android app that activates and deactivates Wi-Fi of your device automatically depending on your location, helping you to save battery and consumption of data through your operator network. It DOES NOT USE GPS nor Android network location services, as it uses your operator network cell identifiers (cell tower identifiers) as the relative location where you are, and where your Wi-Fi networks are. Wi-Fi Matic detects and learns automatically locations where you are connected to a Wi-Fi.

To sum up, it remember where you usually connect to wifi throug operator network cell identifiers, and when you are there it turns it on, and where you gou to other places it turns it off automatically.
It would be great to have the option to turn on/out wifi automatically this way in Firefox OS.
And on other hand maybe it could help to improve the Mozilla Location Service sharing the cell tower identifiers.
