Right now, the assertion of the cache is that all of the apps will be fetched and cached together. We need to separate the apps displayed on the homepage from the apps displayed elsewhere.
I don't think they necessarily have to be cached separately (assuming incremental caching can provide separate access). They will be in separate collections to begin with.
The goal is to be able to mitigate a larger app quantity by quickly loading the homepage apps, and then background-loading the rest -- both on initial download as well as subsequent cache updates (even though they'll be substantially faster).
