Details

(Whiteboard: [pdfjs-c-ff-integration])

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 2014031500 Steps to reproduce: in firefox preferences I have pdf set to always ask, but there is also the option there to preview in firefox. Actual results: When I navigate to pdf, the option that comes up no longer includes preview in firefox Expected results: There should be an option in the always ask dialogue to preview in firefox as well. Why include the option in the application preferences, but not in the always ask dialogue? It is inconsistent and there is no reason to deny the user that option.

I can confirm this is an issue whether it is a bug or just a nuisance is yet to be determined. When the FF Portable Document Format (PDF) option is set to "always ask" only the default "pdfViewer" is displayed. Currently, the workaround is to open FF preferences and set the pdf application prior to opening the targeted pdf file; either preview in FF or pdfViewer. My guess is that "preview in FF" is built in or a non-visable plugin. But, it shows up as an option under pdf preferences so my vote is that it should show up when "always ask" is enabled.
OK, the addon looks like it will resolve this issue by intercepting the preview with a chooser window giving the user to select options for pdf display. Is this addon ready for distribution? It does not show up in the addon search and I do not see any install button when I bring up the link.
I have just created this addon today :) Some one needs to review please.
You can't download it? If so, you must wait before the addon is reviewed.
Confirmed: This is a limitation. Using the "Always ask" setting allows me to view in an external viewer (Abobe Acrobat Reader) or download ("save") the file, but the dialog box should also provide the option to "Preview in Firefox". I'm trying kernp25's addon now, but this really should be fixed within Firefox itself. (BTW, thanks kernp25!)
Apologies I retract previous comment (can't find way to edit it) -This is NOT a bug, or has been resolved? If you set the default to preview in FF there is a download button at the top which offers the save or open options. Perfect.
You may have another issue, maybe bug 1450689. The original problem described in comment #1 exists.
