Build # should be a required field when entering a bug in bugzilla for the
browser. This prevents some email traffic as engineers ask, for the 50th time,
"What build number please?"

I disagree for three reasons.
Firstly, every new required field makes it more difficult to file a bug, which
in turn reduces the number of people willing to file bugs.
Secondly, the build id is not always relevant. It's not relevant for bugs to do
with build config, for example.
And thirdly, even where it is relevant, the build id is not always known. I've
occasionally experienced bugs where the installer didn't work, or where Mozilla
crashed on startup only on my system and no-one else's. In these situations I
could report the date of the build, but would have no idea of the build id.
We created the unconfirmed state to handle this problem.

Mathew, do you think that dealing with certain morons who file 15+ bugs a day
without submitting any single BuildID will not "reduce the number of people" who
is willing to verify bugs? I'm doing this for a few days and already wish I had
a gun... :/
I strongly beleive we need at least a separate field for buildid, so those who
submit bugs for 6-week old builds can get an automated "please upgrade" reminder.
