except there is no ipmi tool I can use, as a windows user, to set the boot directive properly. And trying to trigger the boot directive on a java console from windows on these ix's is like 5-10 reboots mashing a key, hoping it gets in, in time..... hence why I've been still doing this in DCOps.

In addition to http://ipmiutil.sourceforge.net/ you should be able to issue the ipmitool commands from the same host that handles slave reboots.
