Akin to bug 1030523. Launch Nightly under a new profile Sign-in to Sync Tap any of the default bookmarks in the tiles On my Nexus 5 (4.4.4), the site, and any other site afterwards is completely rendered as a blank white page. The thumbnail is captured fine in the tabs-tray. Gecko seems hosed at this point. At this point there is no way to restore functionality to the browser other than force-stopping the browser. Switching away from the browser and back does not restore proper behaviour.
This seems new to Aurora and Nightly.
This is definitely occurring during an initial Sync.
Summary: Gecko fails to render any page visible right after or during a Sync → Gecko fails to render any page visible during an initial Sync
Oh yeah, no Sync required. On a new profile, just hit start browsing on the first-run splash and then tap on a tile.
Summary: Gecko fails to render any page visible during an initial Sync → Gecko fails to render any page visible right after a first-run
Severity: major → blocker
100% reproducible using the original method, restoring that summary
Summary: Gecko fails to render any page visible right after a first-run → Gecko fails to render any page visible right after a first-run (and Sync sign-in)
Further steps to reproduce ... (Make sure Fennec is force-stopped, clear profile, clear cache) adb shell am start -n org.mozilla.fennec/.App (you'll see the start-pane) adb shell am start -a android.intent.action.VIEW -n org.mozilla.fennec/.App -d "cnn.com" The site will not display at all. Any attempt at visiting any other site will also not display at all.
Also reproducible by conducting a 'Paste & Go' operation after dismissing the start-pane.

I ran into this issue while conducting user tests on Android Nightly. I have several videos that show this happening to users after download and launch (without trying Sync). If these videos would help, please let me know.
