Details
The font drop-down menu should allow the user to choose any font on the
computer in composing a new HTML message instead of being restricted
to the three currently provided with Mozilla.

I'm not sure this is entirely a duplicate. 107877 deals with a preference for
setting a default font for outgoing messages. This bug is for the option to
choose from any font installed on the computer when composing an e-mail or
creating a web page in Composer.

The font menu in the MailNews compose window needs to list all fonts on the
computer for selection in an e-mail. (Or, provide a "Customize..." tool so that
users can select local fonts from a dialog box to add to their font menu.) This
is basically the same feature as 26288 but in a different component of Mozilla.
The current font-family font chooser (with Helvetica-Arial, Times-Times New
Roman, and Courier-Courier New) limits selection of fonts in outgoing messages.
The font-family style could be kept (for more compatiblity; see my comments in
bug 26288) but a preference should be made available for "use individual fonts"
or "use font families". Either way, please make it possible to use local fonts
in outgoing mail.
This is related to 107877, which is for default fonts for outgoing messages. It
is not a duplicate since this is for the compose window, not preferences or
defaults.

Users migrating from Outlook Express will want this. Some of them if they
don't find this feature will go back to OE. The mail compose window font
selection tool needs to be easy enough for the average user, with probably the
best way to do it just having a menu listing all fonts available in the system
font folders. Composer can do it differently (with the font families) but
Mail&News should be as simple as possible for the users. (The average
computer beginner, who *hopefully* is using Mozilla :-), will want to get
started with e-mail long before they will consider setting up a web page.)
I understand that there are more important bugs to fix, but I think now that
the 1.0 release is out and we're moving on to 1.1, these e-mail formatting
issues should be addressed.

This is a dup of bug 26288. When that gets fixed, this one will.
