Build ID: 2002-01-11-03, Windows 2000.
Summary: In small-sized mail window, message pane contents can overlap the
bottom taskbar.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. In mail, size the window to about 1/4 of the screen.
2. Click on a message (or use the already-populated Mail Start Page content).
3. Grab the pane resizer and move it towards the taskbar.
Expected Results:
Content from the message pane remains with the rest of that portion of the window.
Actual Results:
Content overflows/overlaps into the taskbar area. Resizing the window helps,
it's at a certain size that this becomes noticeable.
I'll attach screenshots that demonstrate this behavior. Bryner has seen this, also.

Nav triage team needs info: Does this occur by default on a 800X600 monitor? How
frequently does it occur? Is there a workaround?

I'm not sure what you're referring to 'by default'. If you mean 'without much
effort', then yes, it occurs on 800x600 res systems. Workaround - maximize the
window.

ADT - this happens now at other resolutions - I just saw this with 1024x768,
with 16 bit color depth - MailNews was maximized. I'll attach a new screenshot.

it starts if you try to make content area's height exactly bigger than "150 pixels"
well, sorry for the spam.

This only occurs in message panes that are tiny, and there is no data loss or
loss of function. Obvious workaround is to drag splitter so pane is larger.
removing plus for re-triage.

I'm seeing this with my message pane not at a size I'd consider "tiny"... any
smaller than about 245 px high and I start seeing this on a fair number of
messages. Seen on a new profile and a current branch build, on Linux.

bug 140533 seems to be at least related to this one:

"In small-sized mail window, message pane contents can overlap the bottom taskbar."
It has some additional screenshots attached (WindowsXP, Linux)

This happens on every startup for me, with a large window on a 15" laptop
(thinkpad a22p) screen -- nothing's "tiny" here.
F9 twice to hide and restore the sidebar in mailnews fixes things -- why? Maybe
that's a clue.
Can we get this bug assigned to someone who'll look at it soon?

Isn't this the same as bug 41994?
Comment 20•22 years ago

It looks that this and bug 41994 are the same.
In addition this bugs also concerns the sidebar in the mailwindow AND in the
browserwindow. I think these bugs has the same 'program logical' source.
