User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0 SeaMonkey/2.35 Build ID: 20150827182544 Steps to reproduce: Clicked the "From:" dropdown list in Composer. Actual results: Nothing. Expected results: Before Seamonkey 2.35 I could click on the "From:" field istself to make the list of open up - now I have to click the down-arrow - also, before v. 2.35 the background-color of this field was controlled by the theme, now it is just plain white. I realy preferred the pervious behaviour/rendering.
REPRODUCIBLE with German SeaMonkey 2.40a1 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:43.0 from official download area) Gecko/20150813070342 Firefox/ 43.0 Build 20150817202009 (Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit: a) Until 2.33 there was a dropdown what allowed one of the existing e-mail-accounts for "from", no editing of the string was possible b) Since 2.35 (I will check Version later) there is a From-Combo-box what allows to select one of the existing e-mail-accounts for "from", editing of the string is POSSIBLE b1) Edit options might be a feature for some users, it is possible to change the contents, for example from "Joe Doe <Joe.Doe@email.com>" to "Teddy Baer <Joe.Doe@email.com>" b2) But that's also a nuisance because it allows to use individual faked "From" entries for mail header of each e-mail c) Because of b2 and because it is a little user-unfriendly I consider it a regression bug. d) Thunderbird 43.0a1 (2015-09-09) is not affected. Already fixed or SM only?

e) Already REPRODUCIBLE with EN-US SeaMonkey 2.35 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:38.0) nightly by Philip Chee) Gecko/20100101 Build 20150612212216 (Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit I do not have more early 2.35 or 2.34 Versions available for testing.
This is fallout from Bug 1140640 - Make From header editable per-message The from field is now editable, so clicking on the field just puts the cursor in that field ready for editing. This change is intentional though
Depends on: 1140640
Summary: "From" field has changed behavior from "Dropdown box" to "Combo Box" → The "From" field is now an editable menulist and clicking on the menulist does not open the menulist popup any more.
(In reply to Philip Chee from comment #4) I was afraid that that might have been an intended change due to a b1 request. But I think the current solution still needs some improvement: f) it should not be possible to edit the email address itself g) the normal "look and feel" should stay as before the change, edit mode should only be activated by rightlick, icon or whatever.

Thunderbird doesn't have this yet because they've been bikeshedding over the UI. At least we have the feature...
I totally agree with Rainer Bielefeld
