Linux 2002 01 21 21 In the MailNews & Navigator sidebar, only the tab content is painted, if one follows the reproduceable steps: - open the sidebar in the Navigator window (there is another bug specific to MailNews: bug 121215) - click on the grippy - hit F9 twice expected result: sidebar completely painted Actual: only the content of the selected tab is painted. I remember that some months ago, there was a consistent but confusing behavior of the F9 key. When the sidebar was collapsed, hitting F9 would have completely hidden the sidebar, but hitting F9 once more would have restored the collapsed sidebar. Because it was confusing, this has been changed, but the symmetry has been broken (one F9 hit to hide, two hits to expand it). That's maybe why, if one clicks on the grippy after the testcase I have given, the sidebar will not collapse as expected, but will rather be repainted. Therefore, I would propose a symmetric behavior: If the sidebar is unvisible (hidden or collapsed), F9 would expand it If the sidebar is expanded F9, would hide it. I did not filed a separate bug for this issue, since I guess they are closely related and should be fixed at the same time, but I may be wrong.
I have another clue that the two issues are related. - browse a page with a link - follow the test case I have indicated. - click on a link in that page. The sidebar will automatically collapse! As if the expanded state was not saved.
see bug 116094 for related, possible fix, or dupe.
