User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/47.0.2526.106 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: It occurs spontaneously from one version on (I think from version 38.0): with all the previous versions it worked good. Let's launch Thunderbird.. Actual results: Even if my IMAP account (Gmail) is set-up as "(when I delete a message) Move it to this folder", it doesn't work. In fact if you delete an email it's not moved to "Deleted" folder but removed forever. The "Deleted" folder in Thunderbird Gmail folders tree has a wrong icon (yellow.. instead of the gray basket) demonstrates that the setup isn't really working. Expected results: Until version 38.0 when you deleted an e-mail it was moved to the desired folder (a folder I created and called "Deleted" under my Gmail tree). I discovered a trick to let it working: set up "Just mark it as deleted", press Ok to exit from the mask, and then set up back to "Move it to this folder". In this way (don't ask me why!) it's working, in fact the "Deleted" folder icon is a gray basket and if you delete a mail it's moved to Deleted as expected! Unfortunately this configuration doesn't remain: every time you restart Thunderbird you have to do it so that it's really active.

Thanks for the bug report. But please don't zip screen shots - it's much more work then view the images. Please upload as a combined, unzipped image. Or as multiple unzipped images - with descriptive attachment description

Just done. What about the bug? Did you know it? Can you fix it? It's so frustrating..
does it happen only with the gmail account? that is, you have non-gmail imap account where this does NOT happen?
It seems to happen only with Gmail. I have Tiscali (IMAP account) but it works good. Anyway it doesn't occur prior certain TB version.. (38.0?)
Did you at some point have a localized (non-english) name for the trash folder? c.f. bug 480393
What do you mean "at some point", where? in the IMAP folders tree? Anyway I don't think so: take a look at the attachment named "IMAP folders".

Please consider the trick I described: in that way I can make it works, that should mean there's no problem in IMAP folders..
(In reply to elmhaxx from comment #10) > What do you mean "at some point", where? in the IMAP folders tree? I mean at some time in the past, in the IMAP folders tree

I don't remember if the current "Deleted" folder has a different name in the past, I don't think so but I can't remember. Anyway I'm sure it hasn't changed name in the last months, when Thunderbird bug appeared.
So.. any fix?
Please, any idea? any fix?
Hello??
Excuse me, but will (and when) this bug be fixed?
Elmhaxx, in its current state the bug will not get any attention. It needs to be duplicated by other people to be confirmed. Even then, with our tiny team of developers a bug needs to be fairly significant to get the attention of core developers. In its current state, this bug is a support request, not a clear problem needing fixing. Your best hope of getting this fixed is to duplicate starting from a new profile with clear instructions that anyone could follow.
The problem occurs so many people, I know at least 3-4 who have the same issue! Anyway I think it could be simple to fix since you introduced with one recent version, then you can investigate change logs Vs Imap..
Can someone help me, please?
duplicate of bug 1175446?
In that case.. was it solved?
Let's mark this a duplicate of bug 1175446. (In reply to elmhaxx from comment #24) > In that case.. was it solved? No. No need to keep asking, same for bug 1175446. When it is fixed, you will either see it work, or someone will tell you in the releavent bug report. A developer is needed to determine what is happening.
