Under Netscape Communicator, I could share my mail between Netscape on Windows
and Netscape on Unix by simply sharing my home directory and pointing Netscape
there (IIRC :-)), as the mail was stored in a simple (non-random) directory name
like ~/nsmail (or H:\nsmail under Windows).

There does not seem to be an easy way to accomplish such sharing under Mozilla.

If my recollection is correct (i.e. it could be done in NS4), then this is a
pretty major bug.  If it's not, then it might just be an enhancement, but a very
highly desirable one!

a) Always add a build ID in a bug report
b) Please search bugzilla before you file a bug
c) Please set the correct "Severity" (this is an enhancement and not a bug)

Hi Matthias.

I am always willing to learn more and take on constructive feedback.

a) I sometimes forget to do that, but it's hardly relevant to this bug.
   A field (separate from the description) for the build id would encourage
   bug reporters to include the build id.
b) I did.  Bug 12911 did not come up in my search, as the description of that
   bug is distinctly different from that of the one I filed.  I agree that
   the bug you duped this as is related, but they are not the same thing.
   This bug includes issues like
   - GUI option to set (and even find) profile directory (can't find a bug for this)
   - Unix versus DOS pathnames (as you suggested)
   - probably some other stuff
   Reopening and setting dependencies accordingly.
c) As I said in my bug report, I think this was possible in Netscape 4, and
   is no longer possible in Netscape 6 / Mozilla.  This makes it an important
   bug (with keyword 4xp, I believe), rather than just some enhancement.

I appreciate that duplicate bugs are annoying, but I don't have all day to
search Bugzilla.  I make a reasonable attempt to search for similar bugs, and if
I find nothing, I file a bug.

Adding dependencies ("depends on" field) for the things that will need to happen
for this to work as desired.

a) feel free to file an RFE
b) it's ok if you searched. Many reporter don't search before they file a bug.
You need a backend (bug 12911, bug 7067) and a "import/Find" dialog in the
profile Manager (bug 77925)
c) It's not a bug. It's a missing feature and that's an RFE

-> there's nothing left for this bug and nothing more that matches your bug
description-> duping again

(BTW: Only 1 issue/bug please...)
