WIN98se (4.10.2222) MOZ 2002-03-06-04 Note: I have _eight_ "customized" headers added to the normal list. That makes my list significantly longer than the norm. A) Edit->Message-Filters ... New to display "FilterRules" form; *or* B) Search->SearchMessages to display AdvancedSearch. Position the box low on the screen. Click on the header selection to drop down the list. If the list extends beyond the bottom of the screen, it is not possible to reach the items at the bottom. With the arrow keys one can make the list scroll, however the selected item is below the edge of the screen and not visible. With the mouse one can't do anything useful. EXPECTED: detect when the dropdown extends beyond the screen and activate a scroll arrow. Some Windoz products un-pin the top edge of the dropdown list from the listbox control, allowing the whole list to be visualized so long as it isn't larger than the full screen height. That's nice but arrows might still be required if the list were long enough. The misbehavior is very similar to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124485
Of course, with the mouse you can move the dialog up and all is okay (I'm using 8 custom header list). Search UI behaves such that the list opens upward, so I'm not seeing a problem in search ui. Filters UI opens the criteria list downward even when there's no room for the full list.

Summary: Long lists of Header-Id in Filter-Rules or Advanced-Search don't scroll properly → Long lists of Header-Id in Filter-Rules or Advanced-Search don't scroll properly (custom headers)
I checked Linux - fine. My Mac OSX does not allow me to proceed, it hangs in Filter dialog. It seems that only on Windows - I have Win2K - we have list of folders, which looks different: there is vertical scroll bar instead of up/down arrows on the top/bottom of the list. It is also on Search|Search Messages dialog - I verified this place before - it was just with arrows. It could be regression last couple builds.

Re: Laurel's comment "Search UI behaves such that the list opens upward, so I'm not seeing a problem in search ui. Filters UI opens the criteria list downward even when there's no room for the full list." The Search UI is still not quite right. If you're careful about it it is quite possible to position the form so that the list opens downward and runs off the screen. Note also: there is an easy work-around on this one, by repositioning the form. It should get fixed but it doesn't deserve a lot of urgency.
About my comment: I was talking about issues with long list of existing folders in 'Target Folder' field in Filter-Rules or Advanced-Search dialog. I am going to separate it to another bug, since it is actually different field(s) and might have different priority.
Good news: I don't see yesterday strange looking long folder list with scroll bar. Nothing to log - great! So, forget my comments!
