There are no keyboard accelerators for the File:Close and File:Quit commands, as
there are in most other windows in the browser. I think these should be added.
I'll happily submit a patch once:
1) People agree with me that it should be done; and
2) People indicate whether just Close (the one I actually use myself) or both
Close and Quit should have their accelerators added...

These are left out for a reason. Ctrl-W is "backward delete word" on unix, and
myself and ssieb seem to use it quite a bit. It's pretty frustrating to try to
delete a word, and find that you've quit chatzilla on accident. I don't
understand why people need to quit so quickly, they can't alt-f q. Of course,
someone mentioned later that mac menus don't work like that.

Hmm. I suppose that's a valid point. I didn't think of that because I remapped
my accel to be Alt on the UNIX machines I use, since that makes it more like
hitting Cmd on my mac at home. Okay. Hmm. Not sure whether I want to close
this, or consider that it's still mildly annoying and we should come up with
some way to work on it. (*shrug*)
This is really the same issue as bug 129771.

Command-W and Command-Q on Mac OS have no other purpose in any other (not
completely bizarre) app than to close and quit respectively, aside from
Mozilla's tabbed browser where Command-W closes the tab. IMHO having these not
work on *nix and Windows is somewhat broken (inconsistent with the rest of
Mozilla) and having them not work on Mac OS is really broken (inconsistent with
Mozilla and the platform standard, for absolutely no valid reason).
Ctrl-W is "find" in pico, and on win32 I occasionally close browser windows when
I mean to press Ctrl-F, but I accept that this is entirely my fault, not
Mozilla's. Anyone that accustomed to using Ctrl-W to delete words is probably
an advanced enough user that they can figure out how to remap the accel key if
it bothers them that much.
And yes, this is a dupe of 129771.

As a followup, I agree. As I am a Mac/Unix user, I expect Alt-W/Cmd-W to close
the window. As I'm also an experiences Unix user, I see the problem for people
who use Control-W et al to do editing. But, that won't affect me personally,
because I've remapped the accel to Alt, which matches what I expect normally.
I don't see that there is a real good solution to this. But, my opinion is
again noted...

Is this still a problem? Current Chatzilla, at least on Windows, maps Ctrl-W to
close tab, and Ctrl-Q to Exit (Mozilla? I guess so). There is no shortcut for
CLose Window, though, short of doing Alt-F, W on Windows. Perhaps this should be
Ctlr-Shift-W, like Mozilla and Firebird?

--> FIXED, Ctrl-W closes the current tab just like the browser. :)
