Reported by softvision during async testing.
This web page asks for windows/opaque rendering, and as such gets the slow path bitmap async drawing. This explains perf issues on slower systems.

This is a side effect of windowless (non-accelerated) rendering. we're painting as fast as we can in this case, on some systems this isn't fats enough. We're willing to live with this. For site authors, the work around is to use wmode=direct.
