After installing Mozilla, Mozilla is not aware of the default newsgroup server that was set in the existing Netscape 4.79 profile. There were 17 newsgroup servers configured in the 4.79 profile. In addition to this when one opens the Newsgroup part of Mozilla tries to open and connect to each and every one of these newsgroup servers! We don't have the same concept of a default news server in 6.x/mozilla as 4.x did. 4.x named a default mail server and a default news server. mox/6.x has the ability to set a default account (overall) or default smtp server, but not a news default per se like 4.x

Confirming. I'll let this bug stand for the migration case, once bug 16343 is fixed.

as with bug 45777... ->WONTFIX since 4.x migation has been dropped on trunk. If one has an overwhelming need to see this fixed on branch, please attach a patch and reopen the bug.
