Details

It would be difficult to apply source maps in the Gecko Profile Addon, but DevTools needs to support the sourcemap workflow. In this case, the easiest strategy is to probably to apply the source maps one time at the time of capture, and then marshal the profile to perf.html with the source maps already applied.

I'm closing this in favor of the github issue [1] that's tracking this. There will probably be some work on the firefox side too, but that will be tracked in different bugs too, because the approach won't be that one (see the github issue for more information).
