A "apply" button in the "print job options" dialog on Linux/Unix will _not_ work since it's "content" depends on information obtained from the selected printer. Switching the selected printer would require to update the "print job options" dialog, too...

I think your point is that it would not set the "base" or "generic" not printer specific values that are used to initialize the per printer values. Maybe we could add a Print Job Options dialog to the Page Setup dialog for certain platforms and then still have the apply button. The apply button would then set the non-printer specific values from the page setup and then the print-specific ones when launch from the Print Dialog.
