Bug 1480057 fixed the lack of alphabetization under most circumstances, however the list is still not alphabetized when switching from a chat without a participants list (like a private chat) to one that does. Switching to a different public chat and back will fix the sorting.
Bug 1521097 made a further fix, but it's still not right apparently.
I've seen a lot of activity in Chat lately, so hopefully this can be addressed soon.

I tried the steps to reproduce above and was unable to reproduce this. What I did was:
- Connect an IRC account.
- Go to a private conversation.
- Go to a channel (#maildev).
- (Click back and forth a few times between the private conversation and the channel.)
Unfortunately the participants were always sorted. Am I missing a step?

Ryan, can you please give more precise steps. I re-read bug 1521097 comment #0 and that seems to be what Patrick tried. I assume it's still an issue in TB 66 beta 2 and beta 3 (due out today).

Seems to have gone away in TB66. Dunno what fixed it in Gecko land.
