Details

1) Open a browser window. 2) Open email&news 3) Go to an email with attachments (e.g. I get digests from maililng lists, where all the emails to the list are attached to a single daily email) 4) right click on an attachment and do "Open". 5) Whatever you were viewing in the browser window disappears and is replaced by the email attachment. NOTE: That it has merely loaded a new page in the browser window, so you can just hit the back-button to get back to the page you were viewing. However, this is extremely annoying when, e.g.: a) Trying to view lots of attachments, and flick between them - you have to "open" attachment, then open a new browser window, drag to the new browser, then hit back on the original browser window to be able to view each new attachment AND the previous attachment. b) Browsing in one window, reading email in another. There is often no correllation between the two activities, and its a pain having your browsing interrupted - since you can no longer e.g. Alt-tab (depending on window-manager) between your "browsing" session and your "email session", unles s you manually open a new browser window and drag the URL over. Suggestion: - Internet Explorer has a config-option of "Reuse existing windows when opening shortcuts? (true/false". - Instead/in addition it would probably be good to have an option on the right-click menu for the attachments box which was "Open in new window" as well as the existing "Open".
