As discovered in bug 1593060, it's kinda problematic to have XUL content inside of a CSS grid. Right now, that's the state we're in (as of bug 1579516 and bug 1581747) which converted part of the "select languages" preferences section to use CSS grid.

I'm filing this bug on finishing the conversion of the innards of that component so that there isn't any XUL left inside of that grid. This will let us remove (or get closer to removing) some special case hacks in bug 1600542.

Emilio, given that there are patches to fix bug 1600542, I guess the front-end has been properly converted in one of your bug, and this bug has been fixed?
