tested on
Firefox nightly 82.0a1 and affects:
Windows10 64bit
MacOS 10.15
Ubuntu 18.04

steps to reproduce

  1. Click on a one off, like bing > (search mode appears for bing)
  2. Type any word like Cats > (search suggestions appear)
  3. Press ALT + DOWN a couple times untill DUCKDUCKGO is highlighted in blue
  4. WITH the mouse click on one of the search SUGGESTIONS.

actual result
it opens a duckduckgo search, but you had bing search box on the megabar

expected result
should do a bing search, since search container had bing in the megabar

Priority: -- → P2

I guess the search mode engine should follow the currently selected one-off? So as you press Alt-Down and cycle through the engines, search mode is set to each of those engines.
