Details |
Gnome-only, because
- on other desktop environments you need to enable "Force Composition Pipeline" in Nvidia settings to not experience choppy OpenGL.
- KDE with disabled compositing is affected by bug 1663273.
Known bugs
- Chrome is likewise affected by glitches after suspend/resume. According to the manual, users or distributions need to enable a specific systemd service: bug 1515253 comment 18
- bug 1631353
- Performance problem with multiple windows: bug 1659848 / bug 1655241 / bug 1667165 (Overall performance is still better than software rendering.)

Recent drivers (~460.32.03) resolved startup issues reported around our device reset handling.

I think we can turn this on in nightly soon, waiting for bug 1678044 to be resolved so we can expand the SW-WR population in nightly before taking NVIDIA binary driver users out of that group.
