Ignore Thread currently appears as "Kill Thread". I would prefer "Ignore". Also,
in 4.x both Ignore Thread and Watch Thread were available for mail as well as
for news, but in 6.x, they are only available for news. Was this an intentional
decision? Just checking.
4.x had a View>Messages>Ignored Threads item in the View menu. Will we add this
item to the View menu?
Is this feature currently working? Since we don't yet have an icon for an
ignored thread, is there another way to verify it? Thanks.
Yes, it's basically working. If you mark a thread as ignored, all messages in
the thread should be marked read. New replies posted to the thread should never
be listed as new/unread to you. There is a but about the fact that the view
menu item is gone, so you can never see/access the killed threads again. Don't
know if it'll actually wind up being put in the menu, but see bug 73265.

news users know the operation as Kill, as in a kill file - so we decided to call
it kill, and only do it for news (it's not nearly as useful for mail). We didn't
do it for mail because we didn't want mail users to see this thing called "Kill".
IMHO kill is something similar to delete. I would expect kill to remove the
thread from my messages whereas ignore just gives a visual feedback that the
thread is ignored as well marks all new messages in that thread as read.

What I understand under the terms (as a user, partly from memory when I was
really a Messenger 4.x *user*):
Kill: Delete in some way (locally or maybe even "cancel" universially)
Ignore: Don't ever *show* it to me anymore.
I'd prefer as wording like "Mark all future msgs of this thread as read". A bit
long, but more understandable IMO.

in nc4 ignoring does more than marking as unread because i can ask nc4 to show
me all messages except ignored messages.
I expect a kill command to stop all mail from a domain or email address from
appearing.
And I expect cancel to request the server to cancel the message.

It looks like we put View Ignored Threads back in the menu. Is there anything
left in this bug?
