"If you're not familiar with the Kill Thread command that most newsreaders have,
it marks an entire thread as read *and* any future message that belong to that
thread are marked as read as soon as the header is downloaded. Basically, it
lets you go on in blissful ignorance of the existance of a thread of messages
that you've decided you're not interested in.
I have a hard time imagining it's not a feature of the Mozilla newsreader since
it's so common on other newsreaders, but I can't find a way to do it. "

[Resummarizing using 4.x name, for easier Bugzilla searching]

Summary: implement kill thread → Implement `Ignore Thread' (kill thread)
In addition, under the View->Messages menu, there should be an "Ignored Threads"
option that controls whether ignored threads are visible. You would have to
have "All" and "Ignored" selected to see ignored threads. If "Unread" is
selected, messages in ignored threads would not be visible even if "Ignored
Threads" is selected because they are marked as read.

Is this the same as <a
HREF="http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16919">bug 16919</a>, or is
that for back-end implementation only?
