User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:93.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/93.0
Steps to reproduce:
Changed username for an account in Thunderbird, version 91.2.
Actual results:
Upon the username change, a box appeared that the username was changed and the user may have to change the email address. Upon exiting this box, Thunderbird freezes. The only way to exit out is to right-click Thunderbird in the desktop panel, click Close, then a new box appears with an option to End Process.
Expected results:
Thunderbird should not have frozen upon the username change. This occurred using the Snap package, as well as the Thunderbird packages provided by PCLinux OS and Ubuntu.
If exiting the Account Settings tab by clicking the 'x' inside it, Thunderbird does not freeze.
It freezes once the username for one account is changed, then an attempt is made to change the username for a second account without exiting the Account Settings tab first.

I think I've seen a similar issue reported recently. Have you posted this same issue in a support forum?
Hello Wayne,
No, I have not posted this issue in a support forum.

I think what I was remembering is Bug 1728586 - Hang when entering blank server name in account settings
I face same issue with TB 78.14.0 (64-bit) in Ubuntu Linux 18.04 Kernel 5.4.0-94-generic.

TCW can you reproduce with these steps?

Just to make sure I am changing the correct item per STR:
- I right-click any of my Account names and click Settings to bring up Account Settings window
- I change the name currently shown in Account Name for any account to something else and just click another account or somewhere else to let TB apply the change
If what I state in #1 and #2 is supposed to repro the issue, I cannot repro this on 103.0b3 nor 91.9.0 or 91.11.0.

Has 91.11.0 been offered and/or have you tried updating to it and trying again?
Hi Arthue,
I have 91.11.0 on Mageia and this does not occur with this version. It provided the same prompt that the username was changed/change e-mail address, but Thunderbird did not freeze. I also have a separate Linux distro in a virtual machine with Thunderbird 102.0. I can test that version, if necessary.

Sure, wouldn't hurt to test. My results were on Windows though. Could be something Linux / distro specific. And what I stated in Comment 7 @ steps #1 and #2 is the right place that I am doing the change?

I will test 102.0.
Re Comment 7:
#1 is correct.
#2 should be: Once the username for an account was changed after the fact, the freeze occurred after making the username change, then exiting the popup window telling me that the username was changed/email address may need to be changed. Once this popup closed/disappeared, that's when Thunderbird froze.

So since you are seeing a pop-up after a username change, I wonder why this prompts you on Linux but not on Windows?

The issue/crash does not occur in 102.0.
The only difference between 102.0 and 91.11, is that upon the username or server name change, the same popup appears, but then 102.0 additionally prompts to restart Thunderbird.

Clarification: The second popup in 102.0 mentions the restart upon a username or server name change. The reference to a server name change is new.

I do see the prompt for server name change (and restart prompt afterwards) on Windows too. So there it is the same.
