User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20021125 Chimera/0.6+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20021125 Chimera/0.6+ Japanese in some pages are garbled with latest version of Chimera while problem not occurs with released version of Chimera 0.6.0. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Access above URL with latest version of Chimerra nightly build. 2.You see garbled Japanese. 3.Access same page with released version of Chimera 0.6.0. 4.You see Japanese without problem. Actual Results: Cannot read any Japanese. Expected Results: Correctly encode Japanese.
Mao, this is because character set autodetection was disabled in recent versions of Chimera due to problems with it. That web site (and probably the others you're using as well) don't correctly identify the character set they use, and so Mozilla assumes ISO 8859-1. The best thing you could do is encourage the administrators of those sites to fix their servers to correctly identify their character encoding to browsers.
Other than that, this is probably a dup of bug 153150.

I understood. But Older Chimera and other browsers such as IE, OmniWeb, and iCab (and probably Netscape 7) has no problem if the servers not correctly identify their character encoding. I think this problem is related to bug 153150.
