Steps to reproduce:

  1. Copy an image from macOS Notes app
  2. Paste in a web text editor (e.g. Atlaskit editor or Lexical Playground)

Actual results:

The Object Replacement character is pasted instead of the image

Expected results:

The image should be pasted.

(Additional notes: copying other types of content from the Notes app such as headings / tables also paste incorrectly in Firefox, where it is pasted correctly when using Chrome or Safari.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Core::DOM: Editor' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

Hi :mlo,
thank you for raising this. Several issues are included here:

  1. Pasting an image (and only an image) from the Notes App into the editor. This currently being worked on and should already work correctly in Nightly. (See Bug 1699743)
  2. Pasting a selection containing formatted text. Text is not converted into text/html correctly
  3. Pasting a selection containing formatted text and image. Text is not converted into text/html correctly, image is not shown (obj replacement character instead). This seems to only work in Safari, not Chrome (Chrome does not show the image or the object replacement character).

For issues 2 and 3, see Bug 1831554.
