User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031210 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031210 I upgraded to 1.6beta under Linux, and ALL of my bookmarks were lost! This is a critical bug, and about the worst possible kind of dataloss for a browser. I am very upset about this, because a bug as serious as this should have been caught and fixed before a "beta" release, and I have no idea what the bookmarks were that I lost. I bookmarked several new pages under 1.6beta and today when restarting the browser again, those new bookmarks were again gone. I can no longer trust Mozilla to keep my bookmarks. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Upgrade to 1.6beta. Actual Results: All bookmarks were lost. Expected Results: Bookmarks should NEVER be lost. I installed Mozilla 1.6beta in /usr/local/mozilla as root using the full installer for Linux.
Okay, this last time the bookmarks were lost, it appears all the preferences were lost as well. After the initial install, only the bookmarks were lost, but the rest of the preferences seemed unaffected. What's going on here?
This is a serious problem. I have lost my bookmarks 4 or 5 times, usually after a reboot. Mozilla should always keep a backup copy of the bookmarks.
