Bugzilla doesn't prefill the Platform and OS fields when I use Mozilla. At the
bottom of the bug entry page it says:
Some fields initialized from you user-agent, Mozilla/5.0 [en-US] (Linux; I).
It works fine on NS4.7 on Linux.

The number and proportion of Linux bugs coming in with OS showing as "other"
has risen substantially since M12 and especially since M13. As remaining
Mozilla bugs that make it annoying to use Bugzilla get fixed, this will only
become more prevalent.

This is looking like a DUP of bug 21131, "user agent string breaks bugzilla's
os/platform input feature", ASSIGNED, M14, fix in hand, just like bug 22054.
In any case I'd check with valeski@netscape.com before making any changes to
Bugzilla.

How's this a Mozilla thing? I thought browser detection was a part of standard
Bugzilla.

Matty, see bug 35154, "enter_bug.cgi expects UA format some browsers don't
deliver (IE)".
The specific problem reported here is that Bugzilla wasn't picking up platform
and OS info from the UserAgent string sent by Moz on Linux; that problem should
have been fixed by the FIX to bug 21131, "user agent string breaks bugzilla's
os/platform input feature". Mozilla now sends a UA string that conforms to the
HTTP specs (rfc 2068 & rfc 1945).
The more robust way of fixing this on the Bugzilla side would be to make fewer
assumptions about the exact format of the UA string, especially the order
of the parts and the exact way Platform names are specified. It all comes down
to using regexes that only match what they need to, and no more. That old
principle "Be conservative in that which one produces, and liberal in that
which one accepts".
So this could be DUP'd on 21131, but as a Bugzilla bug is should properly
be DUP'd on bug 35154. Sorry for implying otherwise earlier in these comments.

clearing milestone for invalid/wontfix/worksforme/duplicate so they'll show up
as untriaged if they get reopened.
