Details
Above the list of messages in a mailbox is a search field to quickly winnow down
the number of displayed messages. I'm calling that the "quick-find field".
When I try to type into there the letters B, F, N, P, or T, the menu flickers
and the key is interpreted as a menu command, not as a letter to be inserted
into the search field. This prevents the field from being useful in any
meaningful way.
This seems to be similar to bug 242685. However, I'm running version 0.7.3
(20040803) of Thunderbird and it's not fixed.

Still pondering the workings of this.
Sometimes while typing into the quick-find field I see this bug, and sometimes I
don't. I'm still trying to figure out what the rule is.
