User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050715 Camino/0.9a2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050715 Camino/0.9a2 I got a problem with scrolling. If I click and hold down the mouse and moves the mouse a litle up or down to scroll a page, it sometimes lockes the scrolling and scrolls (fast/slow depending on how fast I was moving the mouse in the first place) woun't stop scrolling before it reates te bottom/top of the page. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to a URL you can scroll on (like news.google.com) 2. Click anywhere on the site, hold down the mouse button and drag the mouse a litle downwards. 3. Let go of the mouse button when the site starts to scroll. Actual Results: Sometimes the scrolling locks it self and keeps scrolling to it reatches the bottom/top of the page. Expected Results: The scorlling should have stoped when I let go of the mouse button. This also happens sometime if I click and hold the mouse button and clicks on arrow up/down on my keyboard.
I've seen this, but can't reproduce it when I want to. Has anyone else seen this?
Sounds a lot like bug 295529 which Jasper closed as WFM because no one could repro reliably (I'd seen it once or twice a long while ago, but some scrolling fixes had gone in since the last time I'd seen it).
I think this might happen if you perchance click on a plugin when trying to scroll.
> I think this might happen if you perchance click on a plugin when trying to scroll. I made myself a nice little new page with lots of <br>'s... Tried to reproduce and I did. No plugin on a page with nothing else than <br>'s.

Yeah, I've been seeing this for a while now. I can reproduce this almost every time on a dashboardwidgets.com widget page, such as http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/showcase/details.php?wid=931 . When Camino gets stuck scrolling, everything completely locks up until the scrolling is done.
I'm seeing this bug on some blogger and friendster blogs but not all (Camino 20050812). Can't say if <br> tag is involved in this much because the mozillazine forum thread below has plenty of them yet the bug fails to reproduce. The dashboardwidgets page has less than ten of them. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1386113 It's not by coincindence that that link takes you to a post asking about this very same scrolling bug back in April. May very well be the same bug as bug 119415 and bug 29300 resurfacing. The bug is not reproducible on Firefox 20050730 nor Camino 20050801.
bug still exists on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050831 Camino/0.9a2+ test page: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/dusty-springfield/43944.html
Bug exists on Version 2005110708 (1.0b1). Reproducible always when I visit http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/applications/ , click and hold mouse button, highlight some text and move my cursor down to the bottom of the page, at which point Camino is unresponsive until it scrolls slowly to the bottom of the page. PS. I've got smooth scrolling enabled in the JavaScript preferences, if that helps.
(In reply to comment #9) > This isn't bug 157123 or bug 119415, is it? > I think it could be bug 157123. Simon, since that's your bug, what do you think?

I see this bug all the time on a variety of sites and can reproduce it consistently. Virtually all news.com articles induce this bug. For example: 1. Visit http://www.news.com/New-version-of-Camino-browser-released/2110-1032_3-6039822.html 2. Maximize the window. 3. Position the mouse pointer within the text of the article (not on a link). 4. Depress the mouse button. 5. With the mouse button depressed, move the mouse pointer off the bottom of the window/screen. 6. The window will scroll all the way to the bottom. The rate at which it scrolls is related to the speed at which you move the mouse pointer off the bottom. If you move very slowly off the bottom, the window will scroll very slowly. The browser is unresponsive to all user input while scrolling, but resumes normal function once the bottom of the page is reached. On longer articles, the browser can be unresponsive for 70 seconds or more while slowly scrolling to the bottom of the page.
I should have mentioned above that I'm running Camino Version 2007112812 (1.5.4) on MacOS 10.5.1.
Still occurs in Version 1.6.7 (1.8.1.21 2009032711) on a 1.33 GHz 12" PowerBook G4.
