Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download some mail 2. Observe some junk mail being marked as junk 3. Actual Results: The junk mail was not moved to the junk folder according to the way it was set. Expected Results: The junk mail should have been moved to the junk folder.
Multiple accounts, or just one?
Just one POP account, and one Inbox.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050930 SeaMonkey/1.1a I can confirm this. I have got two accounts and two Inboxs. There is a same problem with Thunderbird but I cannot reproduce this - it's random behaviour.

I can confirm this too. Take a look at the screenshot.
This happens only on the active open folder where you directly see, that messages are incoming. Afterwards I've changed to the junk folder (with view filter) and back, and the messages were filtered.
Hmmm, strange... No, they were not filtered after changing folders, sorry for the message above. But another bug appeared here... The view-filter originally only on the Junk-Box, was suddenly also on my inbox (and filtered out unknown senders and therefore the junk) Strange behaviour...

See bug 196732 comment 60. (In reply to comment #7) > Similar to: > > Bugzilla Bug 279018 > messages aren't automatically moved to Junk folder when marked as Junk Not really related, as that bug is about manually marking a message.

I'm using Thunderbird version 1.5.0.7 (20060922) under Ubuntu Dapper and I have no longer this bug since I switched my imaps server simple name (blopsrv) to a FQDN (blopsrv.mydomain.com) : BUG : my imaps server name : "blopsrv" NO MORE THIS BUG : my imaps server name : "blopsrv.mydomain.com" Before I had this bug ! Hoping it will be helpful....
The original problem was with a POP account (local files). I haven't used IMAP or tested much recently.
Bug 324777 is Thunderbird version for same phenomenon.
Summary: Junk filter sometimes doesn't move junk to junk folder → Junk filter sometimes doesn't move junk to junk folder (Seamonkey)
Bug 196732 looks to be older report(Core bug) of the problem. See also Bug 383202 for problem of "Junk log lies" when problem of Bug 196732/Bug 310431/Bug 324777 occurs.
I'm wondering, could this have been improved/fixed by my fix for bug 404264? See especially the end of bug 404264 comment 0: "Actual Results: The Junk Mail Controls stopped (nothing got filed in the Junk Folder) and I saw the errors in the Error Console." The fix hasn't gone into released builds yet, but it is in the current branch and trunk nightly builds. It is also in the SeaMonkey 1.1.8 release candidates.
certainly will be interesting to see how many are helped, and in which bugs. those of you with the problem, do the following builds improve your situation? ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/ ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/seamonkey/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/
I to am having trouble with junk messages getting marked and being moved to my junk email folder. Seems that this thread has been around along time. Is there a solution yet? (2/17/08) I run IMAP on my mac with Thunderbird at home and thunderbird on a PC at work. The PC with Thunderbird works fine as advertised, but the Mac with Thunderbird not work as advertised. bob

Is > there a solution yet? (2/17/08) As per my comment 14 on this bug - there may be a fix in place. Try the latest SeaMonkey 1.1.8 builds, alternately Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 should be out soon.
especially if there's a fix, but anyway see also bug 200594 bug 351811 bug 392714

I believe this is a duplicate of bug 231845
Depends on: 231845
That bug pertains to IMAP mail. This involves POP mail stored on the local system. I sometimes still see the problem using SM 1.1.14 on Linux. I just clear the junk status and then reset it, and the junk gets moved.

Summary: Junk filter sometimes doesn't move junk to junk folder (Seamonkey) → Junk filter sometimes doesn't move junk to junk folder (Seamonkey, Local Junk folder)
I'm not sure this is the same bug or a new one ... Some days ago my system (SusE) was updated to a new version, which included Seamonkey 2.0.6. Since then, the automatic spamfilter seems (sometimes, specially on first download after start) not to move the mail in the junk folder, but to copy it there - it remains junk-marked in the inbox. When I manually move it to the junk folder (by pressing "j"), i now have two copies of each junk mail in my junk folder.

I haven't seen this problem for a long time. Used trunk nightlies until last fall, been using releases since then, currently 2.0.12. OS is Mandriva Linux 2008.1 Free, kernel 2.6.27, KDE 3.5.9. Is failure to move junk still an issue with anyone?
(In reply to comment #22) > I haven't seen this problem for a long time. Used trunk nightlies until last fall So this has been working for you since at least SM 2.0? => WFM

I think so. I haven't been testing so diligently the past several years and can't say for sure when this problem stopped.
