On the new version 2.xxxx this does not exist and no documentation exits to tell you another way to fix it. It was fine sowing 5 messages in the start, but for some reason it now shows a hundred or more and there is no way to correct the problem. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: There is no way to change it back to just 5 messages

I can't recall having seen a view for 5 messages, but there is one for messages from the last 5 days. To enable views, you need to add the toolbar item from View -> Toolbars -> Customize, per http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/2.0.0.9/releasenotes/#issues (yes, I guess it not being in the menu when the toolbar widget is not there is a bit odd in some ways and helpful in others. bug 332802 has some discussion related to that.)
