We need to add a keyboard shortcut for the site button. I'll follow up with what keyboard shortcut I think we should use.

Just to be clear - the current site button functionality is a subset of what is available in Page Info, so this is not reporting a current a11y failure in the product. However, as more functionality is added to the site button which is not replicated elsewhere, it will become necessary for it to have direct keyboard navigation support.

Not in the strict technical sense. But it is going to be a psychological one. Even if it's a subset of something that is already available, if a user that cannot use a mouse has to go to Tools/Page Info, Security Tab, and possibly tab then several times to find the information they're looking for, they'll never bother using it. If the subset of interest, however, is also available via a single keystroke from within the page directly, it is much more likely to be used and will allow also those users who cannot use a mouse to take advantage of this new feature.
For example, I never ever use Bookmark/Add Bookmark. I memorized CTRL+D right from the start because it is at least one step less I have to perform.

I agree, Marco, absolutely. I confess too that my own experience is altered for a couple reasons,
1) I pay attention to security indicators more than others - partly because I'm a more technical user, partly because I wrote them, and have a paternal concern for their general well-being.
2) I'm on Mac. On Mac, Page Info is Cmd-I, whereas I think on windows it doesn't have a shortcut key for reasons that are unknown to me.
I hope I didn't sound dismissive, I absolutely think it's appropriate to provide an accelerator here.
Out of curiosity, was the old padlock icon accessible at all? Clicking that opens the same page info page, but perhaps that was simply never an option for non mouse-users in the past? The other "lucky charms" location bar icons don't seem to be in the tab order...

This doesn't block, but it's definitely wanted as we're hoping to do more and more with that menu.
I think the best shortcut is alt-down, which is what we use in the searchbox to provide keyboard access for the search-engine selection.

Can you file a spinoff on that? That, IMO, is the blocker for sec-508.

In but 407359 I have a patch that makes this easily accessible by allowing shift+tab from the location bar to focus the site button.
Marco has tested it. Beltzner & all, is that an alright solution? If so we can just mark this as depending on bug 407359.
