This bug tracks things broken by the first b.m.o. reorg, of 2008-07-30/31 (codename "Rockslide").
Note that we were not able to fix everyone's queries in all cases. If your queries are broken, we apologise, but please edit them and fix them yourself :-)
We will soon be starting a process to gather suggestions for a second round of changes. This bug is just for stuff which worked before, but now doesn't.

Not a real issue I think, but something I noticed on bugmail for Bug 227439. I got two bugmails:
Nr.1: What |Removed |Added
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Component|XPCOM Registry |XPCOM
QAContact|doug.turner@gmail.com |xpcom@core.bugs
--
You reported the bug.
Nr.2: What |Removed |Added
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Component|XPCOM Registry |XPCOM
QAContact| |xpcom@core.bugs
--
You are on the CC list for the bug.
I did not report the bug and in that you-reported-the-bug mail a QA contact was removed that was never set. Maybe something is special about that bug ;-).

Dear Sir or Madam,
I will be most grateful if you could approach Egg Prudential Banking to request them to include Firefox as a viable browser for home banking with them.
It is only possible to access bank account via Internet Explorer.
Thank you for your attention

Here are a couple of issues that seem to be related to the reorg:
1) I'm pretty sure (but not certain) that the bugs for product NSS used to
have votes. Now they don't. Is there any way to check to see if any NSS
bugs have non-zero votes? If NSS bugs have votes, can the display of votes
for NSS bug be turned back on again?
2) There are lots of open "core" bugs that are really about mail & news.
I expected them all to become "mailnews core" bugs, but many of them did not.
I wonder if that was an oversight, or if there is some criteria that is
inobvious to me. Examples: bug 43278, bug 108650, bug 176238, bug 230576,
bug 232515, bug 437930, bug 446228

With regards to Nelson's comments, the bugs in question are on mailnews-specific Networking Components, i.e., Networking: News, Networking: IMAP, Networking: SMTP, and Networking: POP. If there is a second stage in the reorg, these components /should/ be moved to MailNews Core, possibly renamed.
Is there a discussion forum for other components that need to be, or should be, moved that wasn't in the reorg?

Concerning max votes (cf. comment #3 item 1):
- apparently several components have been moved from "Firefox" to "Toolkit". Now I have "16 votes used out of 10 allowed" (sic) for the Toolkit product. I suggest that the maximum Toolkit votes per user be increased to something more sensible than only 10.
- In the same vein: it seems that any "totally new" components have been created with maxvotes always equal to 10000 (which, for all practical purposes, means infinity). I'm not requesting to bring them down, but "Core Graveyard" max 10000 vs. "Toolkit" max 10 strikes me as unbalanced.

Same here. It is showing me having 35 bugs with only 10 allowed. I went to unvote on some fixed ones, and it won't let me. I am assuming it wants me to unvote on at least 15. I may over time do this, but not all at once. There is no way to unvote items to bring this count down.

I would like to suggest a new change for the next round:
-Other:Mozilla Localizations:pt-BR / Brazilian
+Other:Mozilla Localizations:pt-BR / Portuguese (Brazil)
This will make it more like all the other language components.

I questioned that one as we were doing it, Gerv said that's how the l10n people wanted it. But I agree with you. And in the same vein, pt-PT should be "Portuguese (Portugal)"

Well, es-ES is just "Spanish", not "Spanish (Spain)". Also, pa-IN is just "Punjabi", not "Punjabi (India). And the same goes for many other languages.
Comment 11•16 years ago
|

No. es-ES is "Spanish (Spain)", as there are a number of other Spanish variant, most prominently, "Spanish (Argentina)". We are _only_ using region codes in the current L10n process if they really make sense and should explicitly named. But I think doing correct renames for locales should be a separate followup bug.

Components doesn't have Download Manager as an option! Can this be fixed. Right now I am creating bugs as general. I will chanve it to DM once the option is available.

Download Manager is now under Toolkit, where it should have been all along. :)

fwiw, having broken people at other sites, I *never* remember to check for vote limits before doing mass moves. in the case of bugs.maemo.org, google helped me resurrect votes (+ impersonation). @bmo, we could undo this by examining the backup and resetting votes. it's fairly painful, but not technically impossible.
I've now bumped the limits for voting on most products to 25 (outside of graveyard...).
would people please complain about specific component naming in a newsgroup or something? it drowns out valid reorg related complaints (voting).
mcsmurf: we need to figure out comment 1....

Thanks Timeless! Too late for me (I had to remove votes for RESOLVED Toolkit bugs in order to be able to register new votes elsewhere) but thanks anyway.

I bet it's related to bug 448851.

MailNews: Search (formerly) does not belong in MailNews: Message Display, but bugs are reassigned this way.

Harvey, could you file a new bug and then make it block this one? Filing a new bug will give the issue more visibility. Thanks.

Try the `IE Tab` extention.
In 1 click you can change the rendering engine from FF to IE & run IE only pages. Can also set a page to always load in an IE tab.

Did you, and did I? I don't remember that. It must be because it was 2am :-) I was wrong; we should fix this.

But not this, as others have already said.
