I would love to see the helper application list arranged in a tree structure to make finding a particular handler faster. Maybe group by mime-type all the audio/* together video/* etc.. Also having color or icon cues as to if the handler is save/plugin/program.

I agree that the helper applications should be sorted by MIME types (although a branching tree isn't really needed), and not by the helper program names or the description (e.g., "AOL Instant Messenger Launch", "Plain Text" -- or are those kNC_PrettyName's?), or the associated file extensions. Accordingly, there should be a seperate column listing the MIME types, as there used to be in Navigator v3 and early v4s. That would be great.

Confirming and leaving it to the Pref group to decide wether to implement or not in one form or another.

Note: this does _not_ depend on bug 54940. We should just do this, independently of that other bug.

This bug report is registered in the SeaMonkey product, but has been without a comment since the inception of the SeaMonkey project. This means that it was logged against the old Mozilla suite and we cannot determine that it's still valid for the current SeaMonkey suite. Because of this, we are setting it to an UNCONFIRMED state. If you can confirm that this report still applies to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it back to the NEW state along with a comment on how you reproduced it on what Build ID, or if it's an enhancement request, why it's still worth implementing and in what way. If you can confirm that the report doesn't apply to current SeaMonkey 2.x nightly builds, please set it to the appropriate RESOLVED state (WORKSFORME, INVALID, WONTFIX, or similar). If no action happens within the next few months, we move this bug report to an EXPIRED state. Query tag for this change: mass-UNCONFIRM-20090614

I don't see the SeaMonkey team fix this in any scenario but my wildest dreams where we have hundreds of full-time developers working on our code. This is WONTFIX from today's POV, but feel free to prototype this as a SeaMonkey 2 add-on and come back with something working that we can possibly integrate one time.
