The quoted part of non-flowed plaintext messages, when displayed in the message pane (converted to html quotations), can get wrapped as long-short-long-short. They should be displayed with the original line length, showing a horizontal scrollbar or being wrapped to the window width only if absolutely necessary. Will attach a screen shot showing that it's being wrapped to less than the window width.

Nominate for rtm: it looks bad, detracts from vertical real estate, and it's a regression both from earlier builds and from 4.x.

Do you reall see *that*? (See attached screenshot - part where the msg pane should be is completely munged.) I don't understand the bug from the description. What you describe sounds correctly to me - it is "wrap to window width" (see pref in |mailnews|msg display|) and works just like 4.x (just that Mozilla uses HTML-style quotes, which makes it look less bad). Or do the lines wrap sometime before the end of the window?
No, it doesn't really look like that. Must be a gimp problem (I converted from xwd to jpg with gimp, and gimp shows it correctly). Let's try a gif instead ...

Filed bug 54463 on the problems viewing both the jpg and the gif in mozilla -- the gif shows up okay in 4.x, but in mozilla it flashes briefly then changes to a page showing the attachment id. So you'll need to use 4.x to see the attachment. :-(
Anyway, if you view the gif, you'll see a line that wraps before the end of the window.
Akk, jpg might have been an upload problem. BTW: PNG works well for screenshots. It looks like an 80 char wrap. Are you sure, this wrap was not in the mail source?
Actually, no, I'm not sure now. I thought I had viewed that message in 4.x to be sure that the problem was mozilla, and that I had seen several other messages like that -- but I don't seem to be seeing the problem today. Maybe it really was like that in the message.
Ben's right. This wasn't a mozilla problem, it was a problem on the other end. Sorry!
