Go to bug 54443, and try to view either the jpg or gif attachment. The jpg displays garbled, though it looks fine in gimp; the gif loads initially (I see it flash), then changes to a page giving an attachment ID but no longer showing the image. (These may be two different bugs which need to be separated.)

Dogfood since it prevents viewing this bug attachment -- hope we can discover the problem by rtm.

I think what happened with the jpg was that it garbled the bits while attaching them (this happened to me in two separate bugs) -- probably a different problem than the problem displaying the gif, but I'm not sure where it would be so I'm hoping Pam might have some insights as to how and whether to split the two issues.

The gif is corrupted. I can dig into why and where in the file the corruption occurs, but its probably enough to know the gif itself has a problem. Could you show me the jpg on your machine, or send me a copy of it in email? thnx, pn

Unfortunately, I deleted both the gif and jpg from my machine (they were in the package directory and went away when I replaced yesterday's build with today's). I generated them by doing xwd > file.xwd, then gimp file.xwd and Save As. I can generate some more, if it would help, and attach them to this bug, since the problem seems to be reproducible -- let me know if you want that.

Yes. having a couple of sample files where I could get the original as well as it as-attached would be helpful. -p

A: I'm using the branch build. Fresh. I can't attach a file to the bug. I either can't select a local file, or if I specify a file URL, I get an error message of: "Create attachment Bug 54463 No file was provided, or it was empty. Please hit Back and try again." The file attached earlier was attached with the branch build, but I was using my NT build. I'm puzzled. Mime type or file handling?

Just attached a couple of files (with the path to the originals -- you can also get to them via the internal web from nonUnix machines via http://warp/employees/akkana/54463/) Seems like the GIF attached okay (and displays okay this time), but the jpg got garbled.

doh! I wish I had caught this earliar... its not a problem with bugzilla/imagelib... its a bug that we corrupt the data when we upload using POST. See the dup. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 54081 ***
