In Lanikai 3.1b1, when composing a new message, the formatting options are disabled until after first entering some body text. Insert and Format menu options also stay disabled after entering some body text. After typing the insert image icon from the toolbar stays disabled too. Sometimes (at random?) after some time, the menu items and icon get enabled...

This happens in safe-mode too. Menu items and image icon get enabled after some time, even without entering body text. Body text and Variable width from HTML bar are disabled too. I'll change status to UNCO, until someone else has confirmed this behavior.

Spell check icon is also disabled. The time is not random. All functions stay disabled until a draft is saved (either manually or automatically)...

I just need to focus on the body of the message and they are enabled. Isn't that what's happening for you Onno ?

Yes, I'm seeing this also, very sporadically in 3.1 At time closing the compose window, and opening another will correct it. I have not been able to pin down steps to reproduce, but it's definitely happening
