Neither the insert dropdown nor the alignment dropdown looks like a dropdown menu. The current icons should have a triangle added to them so they look more like those in 4.x (and so users will know that they can be clicked on to bring up options!). This should be an easy, safe fix. We just need to add triangles to two icons in the formatting toolbar in mail compose. The big win in fixing this is that it'll look more like a dropdown menu. Right now, they appear as just click-once tools so the alignment dropdown looks like it will apply an alignment (without actually selecting one). I don't think this will affect localization at all but Montse or MCarlson should confirm.

My findings on this topic: Both dropdown's are not using the standard 'toolbar-button' styles, and are therefor not correctly displayed in any theme, on any platform. So, to do: new buttons, and update xul to define 'class' and 'id' for these buttons.

the triangles are there from the XUL, so I'm not sure the true nature of this bug, but there is work needed to make the buttons the right classes, etc. but this is a lower priority than some other things. Moving milestone.

I have here Mac OSX, which has triangles on the toolbar icons for Alignment and Insert - as well as Win2K and Linux. Is it only on Mac 8.5?

This one can be marked 'FIXED' or 'WORKSFORME' as the buttons in mailcompose are fixed meanwhile.
