It appears [1] that mac tryserver builds don't use ccache. Doing so (especially using ccache 3.0, if that works on mac) would likely yield a large speedup.

My last experiment with ccache 2.4 on the macs showed no improvement, probably due to slow disks. I can try again with 3.0.

This has been fixed with bug 775305 and others (and is enabled on nightly builds etc): http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/diff/d00e2e2b5e22/build/macosx/common
