Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110303 Thunderbird/3.1.9

The biggest detail is the attached screenshot.

I opened a menu right at startup. While I was in the menu, the Master Password drop down exposed itself. I couldn't close the menu, and I couldn't type in the master password window.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
You have to be fast. Have a master password set, and a need to use it on startup. When Thunderbird starts, grab a drop down menu as soon as possible.
Actual Results:
Thunderbird hangs, without the ability to close the menu, close the master password, or fill out the master password.

Expected Results:
Either have the master password cancel any menu drops, or have the master password wait for current activity to finish.

3.1.9 on OSX 10.6.7 seems horribly unstable. It crashes frequently. As I come up with testable, repeatable crash conditions, I'll be opening more bugs.
Is the Thunderbird UI totally hung in this case?
So far as I can tell. I got it to happen twice, with the second occasion the one I used for the screen shot. Both times, I had to Force Quit the application.

I think I got it once more out of three tries. When the Master Password drop down appears, Thunderbird removes its menus. You have to actually get to a menu and get an option highlighted before the Master Password can appear.
bwinton, nomis, can you reproduce?
do we dup to Bug 476541? or set dependency
Hang if page puts up an alert sheet while a modal dialog is open [Mac]

Oh yes, I'm absolutely able to reproduce. It's absolutely not possible to close Thunderbird than, and I was not able to reach the dock. This reminiscents me to a similar bug, I've opened a year (or so) ago (don't remember the bug number).
OS: Mac OS X → Windows XP
