For a new mail sound, it is currently impossible for a Mac OS user to choose any of the sounds which they usually have access to (and which they could choose from in 4.x). You can see a list of these sounds in the `Alerts' tab of the Sounds control panel. Pinkerton tells me these sounds are stored in the System file.

this is mentioned in another bug, I think Hurricane may own it. we haven't decided what to do yet. re-assign to gayatrib for now, until I find the duplicate.

this is fixed. you can now use internet config to choose you mail sound, and that uses system sounds.

Commercial build: 2001-11-09-06 Mac OS 9.1, Mac OS X I have dual boot on my Mac. Once I change the sound for biff on one of them in the internet config file it was the same on Mac OS X. The sound which you change on one would reflect on the other too. Also noticed that trying to open internet config on Mac OS X would launch Classic 9.1. You can select any sound from the internet config on Mac to play the sound when mail arrives. Marking verified.
