Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/16.0.912.63 Safari/535.7 Steps to reproduce: temporary no access to the network Actual results: Insisting ask about news account password. This error is form version 8, not corrected in 9 and 9.0.1 Expected results: Simply user and password should be set in account configuration dialog. Once. No ask for user and password. In not access to network - not ask about password but not login. If access to network appears, normally login with password.
(In reply to Andrzej Borucki from comment #0) I believe you raised a similar bug before? bug 697397
This bug is extension bug 697397. In that I wrote that better if password would be stored in account configuration than in password manager. This bug say that password manager in Thunderbird 6(6.0.2) works better than Thunderbird 8,9,9.0.1 which I am tested. In new Thunderbird is sufficient to have small time no access to net, to forget password and many times ask for password (if I enter password once, it ask again) Note: better and user friendly would be if password manager ask about user name and password at the same time in one dialog window with two edits. Because user name can be alike only user name without server name or with server name. If I make mistake in user name, Thunderbird ask only about password.
There is a known bug (bug 695309) in versions 8 and 9 in the NNTP code that causes a large slew of major problems; this bug is fixed in version 10 and subsequent versions. It is also known that Thunderbird drops saved password details if authentication fails (bug 437930). You are seeing a combination of these two bugs (the problem in 695309 causes several spurious authentication failures and thus triggers the other bug). The problem with the username and password being separate dialogs is bug 201750 (where a fix is actively in the works).
